What Is on a Real Etsy Receipt?
Etsy generates a receipt page for every order, viewable by both the buyer and the shop. A convincing Etsy-style receipt or packing slip should mirror what that page actually records.
Shop name and order number
The receipt is headed by the shop that sold the item, not Etsy corporate, along with the order (receipt) number and purchase date. Buyers retrieve it under Your account, then Purchases and reviews, then View receipt.
Item lines with variations and personalization
Because Etsy items are frequently made to order, each line carries the selected variations (size, color, material) and any personalization text the buyer typed at checkout - detail levels a big-box receipt never shows.
Buyer note to seller
Etsy receipts preserve the note the buyer left with the order, and sellers print it on the packing slip. Gift messages and customization instructions live in this section on real orders.
Shipping, tax, and coupon lines
Shipping shows as its own line with the method, US sales tax is collected and remitted by Etsy as a marketplace facilitator, and shop coupon codes appear as discount lines against the item subtotal.
Official invoice access by region
From the receipt page, UK and EU buyers download the official invoice through Print Options - VAT on those orders is collected by Etsy, so the VAT invoice comes from Etsy rather than the shop. Buyers elsewhere use the View official invoice option.
Matching packing slip in the parcel
Sellers print packing slips from the same order data: ship-to address, item list with quantities, order number, and optionally prices. This is why a real Etsy order has two near-identical documents - the emailed receipt and the slip in the box.

Etsy stores every order receipt in your account: open Your account, go to Purchases and reviews, and click View receipt next to the order - UK and EU buyers can download the official VAT invoice from Print Options, and other buyers can select View official invoice. Etsy also emails a receipt at purchase, so search your inbox for the shop name. It depends on where you are. For UK and EU buyers, Etsy collects the VAT and issues the official VAT invoice itself - downloadable from the receipt page - not the individual shop. In most other countries, tax invoices are the seller's responsibility, so contact the shop directly (ideally before ordering) if you need a compliant tax invoice for the purchase.

Physical orders usually arrive with a matching packing slip in the box.
Creating a receipt-style document for your own records is fine: recreating a lost order record for personal bookkeeping, documenting a real purchase, building packing slip mockups, or testing layouts. Using a generated receipt to claim a refund, return, reimbursement, or tax deduction for a purchase that did not happen is fraud and strictly prohibited.
