What Is on a Real Z Energy Receipt?
Z Energy receipts reflect New Zealand GST rules plus the chain's Z App features - Pumped discounts and Sharetank prepaid fuel - which change what actually gets printed.
15% GST in the total
New Zealand fuel carries 15% GST, and receipts show a GST-inclusive total. Since April 2023, NZ's taxable supply information rules replaced formal tax invoices - supplies of NZ$200 or less need only minimal details, which a standard Z receipt already covers.
Sharetank GST receipts arrive by email
Topping up a Sharetank balance in the Z App automatically emails you a GST receipt, and top-ups over NZ$1,000 come with an IRD-approved modified tax invoice. Redeeming that prepaid fuel at the station produces a non-GST receipt instead, since the tax was accounted for at top-up.
Pumped discount line
Z App members get Pumped cents-per-litre fuel discounts that appear on the receipt when redeemed. Pumped discounts do not stack with Sharetank redemptions, so a real receipt shows one or the other, not both.
Litres and price per litre
The fuel line shows the pump number, the grade (Z91 Unleaded, ZX Premium, or Z Diesel), litres to two decimals, and the price per litre in cents - with any discount shown against the board price.
Pay-at-pump vs in-store differences
Paying at the pump prints a simpler slip than the in-store register, and Z notes that non-GST receipt options for Sharetank are only available in-store - a detail that affects which receipt type you actually hold.
Site details in the header
Each Z station's receipt header identifies the specific site name and location across Z's nationwide network, which helps match a printout to a bank statement entry when reconciling fuel expenses.
