When a YourPret Barista (UK) or Pret Coffee Subscription (US) member scans their QR code at the till, the drink line prints at £0.00 or $0.00 with a note like 'Subscription Redemption' rather than a paid price - the till still logs the item, just with no charge against it.
VAT is included in the shown price, not added after
UK Pret receipts are VAT-inclusive: the printed item prices already contain 20% VAT, and the receipt shows a VAT breakdown line (net amount and VAT amount) rather than adding tax on top of a subtotal, unlike US-style receipts.
US receipts add sales tax separately
In the US, Pret prints a subtotal, then a separate sales tax line calculated on the local rate, then the total - the opposite structure from the UK's tax-inclusive pricing.
Store number and till/register reference
Each Pret shop location prints its own store name or number near the header, along with a till or transaction reference number used if a customer needs to query a specific purchase.
Item names match the till system, not the menu board
Sandwiches, salads, and drinks print using the shortened till description (for example, size and milk modifiers folded into the drink name) rather than the full marketing name shown on the shop menu.
Subscription limits enforced at the till
Because the subscription caps redemptions (up to 5 drinks a day with a gap between orders), a receipt showing back-to-back subscription redemptions within a short window would not match how the system actually enforces the limit.
