What Is on a Real REWE Receipt?
German Kassenbons are among the most regulated receipts in the world, and REWE's follow the same rules as other German supermarkets while carrying its own PAYBACK loyalty and eBon digital receipt features. These are the details that make a REWE-style receipt read as authentic.
TSE signature block required by law
Since the KassenSichV rules took effect, every German till receipt must carry data from a certified technical security device (TSE): the serial numbers of the register and security module, a transaction counter, and a cryptographic signature - often compressed into a QR code near the bottom of the bon.
PAYBACK points instead of DeutschlandCard
REWE's loyalty partner is PAYBACK, not DeutschlandCard - scanning a PAYBACK card or the REWE app at checkout adds a points-earned line to the receipt, and REWE frequently runs PAYBACK point multiplier promotions that show as extra bonus-point lines.
Pfand deposit lines
Bottle and can deposits print as separate PFAND lines - 0.25 EUR for one-way containers and 0.08 to 0.15 EUR for refillables. Returned empties produce a Leergutbon that scans at the till as a negative Pfand line on the final receipt.
MwSt letters for 7% and 19%
Each item carries a tax letter - most groceries fall under the reduced 7% rate, while non-food and many drinks carry the standard 19%. The footer breaks down net amount and MwSt separately for each rate.
eBon digital receipt in the REWE app
REWE offers eBon, a digital receipt option in the REWE app that replaces or supplements the printed bon at supporting stores - the digital copy stays in the app's receipt history, which is useful once the thermal paper fades.
Kasse, Bediener, and Bon numbers
The footer records the register (Kasse) number, cashier (Bediener) ID, and a sequential Bon number along with date and time. Card payments add a girocard/EC terminal slip section with the masked card number and authorization data.

Get Your Original REWE Receipt First
If the store supports eBon, your digital receipt is stored in the REWE app's receipt history and can be pulled up anytime. If you scanned PAYBACK at checkout, the points transaction may also be visible in the PAYBACK app. Otherwise REWE receipts are paper-only - ask the store the same day, since reprints from the till journal are rarely possible later. Use this template when the original is unavailable - a faded thermal bon, a discarded receipt, or a purchase that was never digitized.
