TSE signature block
Since the KassenSichV rules took effect in 2020, every German register runs a certified technical security element (TSE). The bottom of an ALDI Kassenbon carries the TSE data - a long cryptographic signature string, a transaction number, a signature counter, and often a QR code - proving the transaction was recorded tamper-proof for the tax office.
MwSt letter codes at 7% and 19%
Each item line ends with a letter code that maps to a VAT rate: the 7% reduced rate for most food and the 19% standard rate for drinks like soda, alcohol, and non-food items. A tax table near the total breaks out net, MwSt, and gross amounts per rate.
Pfand deposit lines
Germany's deposit system puts Pfand on the receipt twice: EUR 0.25 per single-use bottle or can (and smaller amounts for reusable bottles) added as a deposit line at purchase, and a negative Pfand line when a return voucher from the bottle machine is scanned at the register.
Bonpflicht - a receipt every time
Since January 2020, German law obliges stores to issue a receipt for every transaction, however small. At ALDI you always get a Kassenbon, even for a single bread roll - a legal requirement, not store policy.
Filiale, Kasse, and Bediener details
The Kassenbon identifies the specific store (Filiale), the register (Kasse), the operator, and the exact date and time - required fields under German cash register rules that tie the bon to one transaction.
