What Is on a Real Shell Germany Receipt?
German fuel receipts are among the most regulated in the world - fiscal law dictates much of what a Shell Kassenbon must show. A credible replacement copy should reflect these details.
TSE fiscal signature required by law
Under KassenSichV, every German register receipt carries data from a certified technical security device (TSE): a sequential transaction number, the TSE serial number, and a cryptographic signature, printed as plain text or condensed into a QR code. Since January 2024 the serial numbers of both the register and the TSE must appear.
Bonpflicht - a receipt for every sale
Germany's receipt-issuance obligation (Bonpflicht) has required stations to produce a Kassenbon for every transaction since January 2020, so a record of your Shell purchase always exists at the station even if you declined the printout.
19% MwSt with tax-class letters
Fuel is taxed at the standard 19% MwSt rate. German receipts show a tax summary with net amount, MwSt, and gross total, and mark each line with a tax-class letter - typically A for 19% items like fuel and B for 7% items such as some shop food.
Litres priced to a tenth of a cent
German pumps price fuel like 1,799 EUR per litre with a comma decimal separator. The receipt lists the Säule (pump) number, the fuel grade such as Shell FuelSave Super E10 or V-Power Racing, litres to two or three decimals, and the price per litre.
Shell ClubSmart line
ClubSmart members earn 2 points per litre of Shell FuelSave fuel by default, or can switch to an instant 2 cents per litre discount in the Shell app. Scanned cards add a loyalty line showing points earned on the transaction.
Station operator in the header
Many Shell stations in Germany are run by independent partner operators, so the receipt header often shows the operator's company name, address, and tax details for that specific site rather than a generic Shell corporate address.
