What Is on a Real CNG Receipt?
CNG receipts look different from petrol or diesel slips because compressed natural gas is dispensed by mass, not volume. These are the details that appear on a genuine fill slip.
Quantity in kilograms, not litres
CNG dispensers meter by mass, so the receipt shows kilograms delivered and a rate per kg. In India - the biggest CNG vehicle market - a typical slip reads like 5.240 kg at the day's per-kg rate, while US stations bill in GGE (gasoline gallon equivalent) instead.
Daily-revised per-kg rate
City gas distributors such as Indraprastha Gas (IGL), Mahanagar Gas, Adani Total Gas, and Gujarat Gas revise CNG prices with changes typically effective 6 a.m., and rates differ city to city. The rate printed on the receipt therefore pins the fill to a specific date and location.
No GST split on Indian CNG
Natural gas is outside India's GST regime, so a genuine Indian CNG receipt shows no CGST/SGST lines. State VAT applies instead at rates that vary by state, and it is built into the pump price rather than added at the bottom.
Dispenser, nozzle, and transaction IDs
Slips identify the dispenser or nozzle number and a sequential transaction ID, and many stations print whether the fill was a preset amount (a fixed rupee or dollar value) or a fill-to-full stop.
Vehicle number on the slip
Indian CNG stations commonly record the vehicle registration number on the receipt, especially for autos, taxis, and fleet vehicles, because operators and aggregators reimburse fuel against the specific vehicle.
Station branding and payment method
The header carries the city gas distributor or oil company branding and station address, and the footer shows the payment method - cash, card, wallet, or a fleet/prepaid card that ties the fill to a monthly statement.
