Mercadona's ticket de compra follows Spain's factura simplificada rules and is one of the few major supermarket receipts with no loyalty program printed on it at all. These are the details that make a Mercadona-style receipt read as authentic.
Factura simplificada format
A standard Mercadona ticket is a simplified invoice (factura simplificada) under Spanish tax law, showing Mercadona's CIF (tax ID), the store address, and a receipt number - sufficient for most consumer purposes without naming the buyer.
IVA broken down by rate
Spain applies multiple IVA rates - a super-reduced 4% on basic foods like bread, milk, and fruit, a reduced 10% on most other food and drink, and the general 21% on non-food items - so the receipt footer itemises the tax base and IVA amount for each rate present in the basket.
No loyalty program
Unlike Carrefour, Dia, or most competitors, Mercadona runs no points or card-based loyalty scheme. Its receipts never show a rewards line - the company's public positioning is that everyday low prices replace the need for a loyalty program.
Product code and weight for fresh items
Fresh produce and deli items weighed at the counter print with an internal product code, the weight in kilograms, and the price per kilo alongside the line total, distinct from the barcode-scanned packaged goods above them.
Full VAT invoice on request
For business expense purposes, a simplified ticket can be exchanged for a full factura at the customer service desk with the company's full tax details, but this has to be requested - it does not print automatically at checkout.
Store number and till identifiers
